Tater Tot Arborvitae (Thuja)

(Thuja) Tater Tot® Arborvitae is a compact evergreen that packs a lot of charm into a small, tidy package. This dwarf Thuja occidentalis forms a naturally rounded mound of soft, fan-like green foliage that keeps its color beautifully year-round. Reaching only about 2-3 tall and 3-4 wide, it’s the perfect choice for small gardens, borders, containers, and foundation plantings where space is limited. Hardy in zones 3–8, Tater Tot® thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Once established, it’s quite low-maintenance—no pruning required to keep its adorable globe shape. It offers four-season appeal, providing structure and lush greenery even through harsh northern winters. Use Tater Tot® as an easy accent near entryways, in mixed containers, or to edge pathways and patios. Its naturally dense habit also makes it a great low hedge or filler in modern landscapes. Whether you’re dressing up a small urban garden or adding soft texture to a mixed bed, Tater Tot® is a dependable, easy-care evergreen that always looks neat and polished.
