‘Pagan Purples’ Hybrid Bee Delphinium

(Hybrid Bee Delphinium) Delphinium ‘Pagan Purples’ brings bold vertical color and timeless elegance to the garden. Known for its tall spikes of rich, royal-purple blooms, this classic perennial stands an impressive 4 to 6 feet tall and makes a dramatic statement in borders, cottage gardens, and cutting gardens. Each sturdy stem is densely packed with deep violet-purple flowers that appear in early to midsummer, drawing in bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds with their nectar-rich petals. This long-lived perennial thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Regular watering and protection from strong winds help the tall stems stay upright and healthy. After the first round of blooms, trimming the flower stalks can often encourage a second flush later in the season. ‘Pagan Purples’ adds height and sophistication to mixed plantings, pairing beautifully with lighter perennials or silvery foliage. It’s also a top choice for cut flower arrangements thanks to its long, sturdy stems and striking color. While deer and rabbits typically avoid it, pollinators can’t resist its vivid blossoms. Hardy in zones 3 to 7, Delphinium ‘Pagan Purples’ delivers reliable performance and that classic English-garden charm year after year.
