‘Hello Yellow’ Milkweed (Asclepias)

(Milkweed/Butterflyweed) You will be saying ‘Hello Yellow’ for several months in the summer with this beautiful, cheery cultivar of Asclepias tuberosa. ‘Hello Yellow’ Asclepias is an easy to grow perennial variety that will grace your garden with months of summer color. In early summer, large clusters of bright yellow flowers rich in nectar and pollen emerge on ‘Hello Yellow’ bringing enjoyment to the butterflies and bees in your garden. Asclepias is a host plant for the Monarch Butterflies, so if you see striped caterpillars climbing around and nibbling on your plant that is a good thing! If flowers seem to be slowing down we recommend trimming your plant back to bring on another flush of blooms. ‘Hello Yellow’ is a long blooming perennial perfect for butterfly, wildflower or prairie gardens, or the mixed sunny border to name a few. It prefers well-drained soil in a sunny location and once established, ‘Hello Yellow’ is drought tolerant. The beauty of ‘Hello Yellow’ Asclepias extends into the fall as the seed pods burst open and reveal the fluffy seeds. Enjoy the long-lasting summer blooms or the fall pods in cut floral arrangements.
