(Alyssum) Create a carpet of gold with ‘Golden Spring’ Alyssum in your garden. This compact growing, spring-blooming perennial forms a 6-8 inch mound of color. The clusters of small golden yellow flowers cover this plant in late spring and can spread to 14 inches across. Once it is done flowering you can trim the spent blooms off to reveal the semi-evergreen foliage with a silver hue. Hardy in zones 4-9, this drought-tolerant perennial likes to be grown in well-drained soil. Winter hardy Alyssum are deer and rabbit-resistant. A perfect addition to rock gardens, paths, as well as garden borders.
