Digitalis laevigata

We absolutely love Digitalis laevigata, a perennial foxglove species, endemic to the Balkan peninsula, which has thrived in our hot, humid, rainy summers since 2017. The 5′ tall (yes, many references say 3′ tall, but we don’t let our plants read books) flower spikes open, starting in mid-May (NC) with terminal spikes of tightly-stacked, small, bronzy orange flowers. Well-drained, gravelly soils yield the best results.
