Bubble Up™ Beautyberry (Callicarpa)

(Beautyberry) If you want a shrub that delivers both summer beauty and unforgettable fall color, Callicarpa Bubble Up™ is a must-have. Known as a compact beautyberry, this variety offers clusters of small, pale pink flowers in summer that give way to striking bright purple berries in autumn. The berries appear in tight bunches along the stems, creating a “bubble effect” that really pops in the landscape. Reaching just 4-6 feet tall and 2-3′ wide, Bubble Up™ has a naturally upright habit that fits perfectly into mixed borders, foundation plantings, or as a colorful accent in small gardens. Its manageable size also makes it easy to incorporate into modern landscapes where space is at a premium. Best grown in full sun, this shrub adapts in average to well-drained soils and requires only average watering once established. It is hardy in zones 5-9, giving reliable performance in a wide range of climates. Beautyberry Bubble Up™ blooms and fruits on new growth, so prune in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh stems and heavy berry production. It’s generally low-maintenance and resistant to browsing by deer. The stems of berries make an excellent cut flower. With its unique berry display, compact size, and easy-care nature, Callicarpa Bubble Up™ adds long-lasting interest to sunny gardens and fall landscapes. A Proven Winners® Color Choice Shrub!
